Event Details

Mr. Serafini is the Deputy Airport Director– Facilities, at John Wayne Airport in Orange County. Mr. Serafini is a registered civil engineer with over 29 years of experience in planning, designing, building, and maintaining air facilities in Southern California. With the Airport for over 8 years, Mr. Serafini joined JWA as a permanent employee just one month prior to 9/11; previously, he had served as a consultant to the Airport for eight years. As DAD for Facilities, he oversees the Engineering, Airport Development Planning and CADD, Maintenance and Information Systems divisions for JWA. Prior to joining the civil service, Mr. Serafini held the rank of Lieutenant Commander with the US Navy and was stationed at the former El Toro Marine Corps Air Station. He received his undergraduate degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York State and his Masters degree from Cal State Long Beach.

Larry will be speaking on the JWA program to construct a third 300,000 square feet Terminal C and concourse. The passenger volume at John Wayne Airport (JWA) has been increasing at a steady six percent per year since 1982 from 2.5 million airplane passengers (MAP) to 8.5 MAP in 2003. This proposed expansion will satisfy the projected 10.8 million airplane passenger capacity by 2011. The new Terminal C will include six new jet gates and seven new commuter gates that will replace the existing (temporary) ramp loading facilities.
